What carnations actually are is the most durable cut flower in general circulation. Two to three weeks in a vase is normal, against five to seven days for tulips and roses. In a climate like Singapore's, that gap is the whole argument. A carnation arrangement sent on a Monday is still worth looking at a fortnight later.
